No Matter Where You Go, There You Are
The USS Excelsior holds a proud place throughout history. Originally dubbed the Great Experiment and commanded by one Hikaru Sulu. In Latin, Excelsior means ‘Ever Upward‘. and the crews of all Excelsior’s have always striven to go ‘Ever Upward’.
Throughout its time, each Excelsior has been a Ship of the Line, starting with the Original Excelsior Class vessel all the way through to the Excelsior-D, now an Excalibur Class Starship.
In recent history, the Excelsior-C held a proud place in the history of The Federation. The Excelsior-C served in 2384 during the Battle of Union. Subsequently, the Excelsior was the first Federation Starship to discover The Round Table. Some months after, the Excelsior completed the first of many successful exploration missions throughout that sector.
The Excelsior participated in the Battle for Starbase 900. At the start of the battle, Starfleet Command ordered the destruction of the Federation Transwarp Gateway. The Excelsior carried out their orders much to the dismay of the survivors. The Excelsior-C was too badly damaged to be repaired. An Excalibur Class in dock at Diogara Station, having been recovered and is rechristened, USS Excelsior-D.

Captain Peter Gardner has served as the Commanding Officer of the USS Excelsior for the last 2 and half years. He previously served as an Intelligence Operative in Starfleet Intelligence for the majority of his career.

The Excelsior begins its limp back to Diogara Station with a small task group of the most damaged ship. With most of its systems offline, except for life support and backup power, the Excelsior is in an extremely vulnerable state. What could possibly go wrong?
