Lieutenant Akhila Tendulkar
Akhila is a quiet, confident young woman who enjoys a good challenge, but is ultimately driven by the compassion she feels for those who are in her charge. Though her posting as the Chief Medical Officer of the Infinity is her first duty tour in Starfleet, she is far from an inexperienced physician.
Born to a prominent medical family in Nagpur, Akhila showed herself to be a prodigy at an early age, and graduated from Maulana Azad Medical College at the age of twenty. From there, she would do part of her residency at Wanjari Hospital and finish it at the Nagpur Medical Research Institute, where she would transit to becoming a researcher (eventually being a team lead on a project to expand the effectiveness of CPK enzymatic therapy) as well as a practicing physician at the associated clinic. A number of life events, including the continuous “sales pitch” made by her uncle, Commander Sachin Tendulkar, would lead Akhila to seek out a career in Starfleet. Initially, her thoughts were to seek an assignment either at a Starfleet research facility, or possibly an Olympic Class Starship, but again her uncle intervened, this time securing her a slot in the Advanced Tactical Training course. The training gave her new perspectives, and she found herself securing a posting on the USS Infinity, a far cry from her original goals.
